Equal Partners Foundation

Equal Partners Foundation works for and with persons with disability and/or learning difficulties. This means that it not only provides services to these persons but works towards promoting and advancing the rights and equal opportunities of persons with disability/ learning difficulties, raising awareness in society and empowering persons with disability to make their own choices, to have a voice and to live fulfilling lives in the community. The social model of disability is the guiding philosophy of Equal Partners Foundation. This philosophy is the springboard to all the services of the Foundation and the principles that it believes in. All the services provided are person-centered, individualized and holistic. All the services and/or programmes are designed in close collaboration between parents/carers, professionals and the individuals themselves so as to target the specific needs of the individual. The services are all provided in the community that means where the person is living, learning, working or socializing. Equal Partners believes unconditionally in inclusion of persons with disability/learning difficulties in all aspects of society. It has seen that children and adults with disability who have been included throughout their lives are functioning better. Their quality of life and their coping skills are better, and they can lead a more independent and meaningful life within an inclusive society. Equal Partners is a parent-run non-profit foundation set up in 1999.
